Biography:

Paul Alexandre, prior to earning his PhD in geochronology and thermochronology applied to tectonic development at the Université de Lorraine in Nancy, France, Paul Alexandre studied geology at the Université de Lyon in France. He was employed by Queen's University in Canada from 2000 until 2015 where he taught geochemistry and carried out research in mineralogy, economic geology, and geochronology. He has been a professor at Brandon University in Canada since 2016 where he teaches a range of classes and carries out economic geology and mineralogy research. He serves as a councilor for the Geological Association of Canada and serves as guest and associate editors for a number of periodicals. His research is positioned at the intersection of geochemistry, mineralogy, geochronology, and economic geology. He do both fundamental and applied research in each of these fields. He contributed to his understanding of the Ar/Ar geochronology method (age spectra, single mineral thermochronology), but also applied it to orogenic and metallogenic problems. He was able to describe some unique mineralogical cases, such as synneusis in zircon, sector zoning in uraninite, and hydrated eskolaite. Paul is an accomplished educator and researcher, with numerous peer-reviewed papers, conference presentations, and a textbook to his credit.
